Yeah. Familiarity does increase attractiveness. Proximity also increases it (you work in the same place, live very near, sit next to each other, etc). We were taught that these were pretty strong factors.

I second that. I've found that sometimes, once I get a taste of something (french fries, chips, etc), I have a hard time stopping. Avoiding them 100% is what works for me in terms of controlling my consumption. It's weird, I know - I have the willpower to avoid eating something completely, but I don't have enough willpower to stop eating something once I've started.
