A follow-up on selling plans across state lines: how do you weigh the benefits of high coverage rate vs. the potential "race to the bottom" that would be caused by removing individual state regulation? In other words, is having some coverage for a lot of people worth it being flimsy coverage?

Would love to see Reddit's conversion rate on Reddit Gold and other subscriptions. Guarantee it's nowhere close to 1%.

I think the argument is that more options = more access and more competition, which would give cheaper plans and better consumer choice in states with stronger regulations on insurance. The discussion also tends to assume that ACA restrictions would be repealed. Indeed, the goal is probably to have some minimally-regulated plan based in the equivalent of North Dakota that's available nationwide.

Another (maybe more palatable) point would be to provide new options to individual marketplaces that currently have few or no insurer options.
