For someone coming into the development world, from the Ops side (sec, sysadmin, etc) with no degree, what would be your top recommendation?

I mainly have a bash/PS background, and am slowly but surely learning Python. I'm transitioning into the DevOps world.

Definitely am learning Python. I've created some basic apps to automate a few tasks. Any recommendations within the Python world?
