Hi Rand. I’d like to start by saying that you’ve been a big influence in my life. My brother and I are starting game development together, and we both draw inspiration from what you and your brother created. Thank you for that.

Now for the question: In your Kickstarter video, you mention ‘that feeling’ of being dropped onto the dock of Myst Island, not knowing why you’re there or what to do, and this being important to your new project. Being one of the creators, you obviously couldn’t have experienced that first-hand in Myst. In what other games or experiences have you felt this feeling, or something similar?

Those kind of games are great! I'm glad you were able to experience that feeling that a lot of us can thank you for.

If anyone is looking to relive that mysterious, adventurous feeling, here's some suggestions that I rather enjoyed (Though these don't necessarily have the same gameplay as Myst):

Legend of Grimrock -Play without the minimap!

Morningstar -Free browser-based sci-fi point-n'-click puzzle game.

Journey -Haven't actually played this one as I don't have a PS3, but I've heard great things.

Miasmata -First person adventure game about exploring and mapping an island while staving off the plague.

Dark Souls -Pretty difficult action/adventure game, but the scale and mystery of the world blew me away. Extremely fun to play, as well.

Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time Very old first person puzzle game in the vein of Myst. Time-travelling chameleon-suit-wearing fun!

RAMA Another very old first-person sci-fi puzzle game. Not sure if you can actually get the full game anymore, but the site I linked to looked promising.

And of course, the entire Myst series if you haven't played them yet! Myst 1-5, plus Uru.

I'll add more if I can think of them!
