I don't think you should provide any more details than that. People in that area of research know who is doing what. Don't risk it. It's pretty obvious to me what lab you're talking about, and I can't be the only one.

I hope you can find someone close to you, family or otherwise, who can help you out while you get back on your feet. If I found out that a family member or friend was in a shelter situation instead of sleeping on my couch I'd feel absolutely terrible.

Seems awfully self-important of Kato. Video responses are more of a major celebrity thing.

So sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my dad to ALS, also.

If he isn't seeing a AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) specialist (usually a speech-language pathologist), you should find one soon. Often there are special AAC clinics for people with ALS. That person can help get your dad the technology he needs, and it will be covered by insurance. There's no need to use the free and cheap stuff, which won't be tailored to his needs, especially when he needs to use special switches instead of typing.

If he still has use of his voice, look into voice banking. You can also start recording messages on your own. Later on he'll appreciate being able to communicate personal messages (like "I love you,") with his own voice. I say that as a both as a clinician and as a daughter who has been through it.
