Was there a time after WW2 when you thought WW3 was going to happen?

A lot of wars and conflicts have occurred during your life time after WW2. I am personally curious about this question because I often wonder if the world today has learnt that nothing good can come from war. I fear that one day a bad sequence of events will lead the world to a third war. I hope I won't be alive by then if it happens.
