u/slicc_nicc Have you and your s/o sought out to learn about addiction, not just how to educate a child not to do them. I guess I’m wondering if you feel knowledgeable on the subject itself not just the prevention of it.

(I have worked with adolescents at a drug rehab and my niece, who was adopted by my aunt, was born addicted.)

That’s good, working with the teens and hearing their stories was hard. Some were aware they were born addicted, some weren’t. Some were in foster families and some weren’t. After working in the field for the past 5 years I really believe it’s passed down biologically, but ultimately a nurturing home and loving family can turn that all around.
