Have you done any study whatsoever into indigenous intellectual property rights? Do you have any reservation about controlling how people's music gets shared with others? Do they want their music publicly available for free to everyone in the world?

If you use Firefox browser, you can download an extension called DownloadThemAll, or something similar. I use this to download the entirety of the videos/slides from Coursera courses I take. The only problem presents when the materials are released on a weekly schedule instead of all at once, in which case you have to wait until the end to download everything.

Thank you for joining us today!

I live and work in Guatemala in food security. The environment/ecosystem of development agencies is dizzying and represents an enormous investment of money, almost all of which is being administered in a top-down manner through bureaucratic systems which prioritize the agendas and priorities of people from rich nations. Very little input from the stakeholders at the bottom who are supposedly benefiting from this multi-million dollar enterprise.

Systems of monitoring and evaluation are set up independently by each institution/NGO for the sake of appeasing funders instead of making an earnest assessment of the impacts and/or failures of their work.

Questions:

  1. How do we address this problem? How do we promote a bottom-up approach which includes stakeholders and beneficiaries in setting agendas?
  2. How do we promote the use of M&E for organizational learning instead of appeasing funders?
  3. Many people think that the MDG are the perfect example of a bureaucratic, top-down system which is deaf to the opinions, concerns, and expertise of the poorest people who should be beneficiaries. Do you agree?

I look forward to participating in your course.
