I think most people would be nervous about decriminalizing harder drugs such as heroin, crack, cocaine, and meth.

There may be a chance that drug usage would go down as with Portugal. But then again, Portugal's culture is quite different from America's, and our citizens may react differently to complete decriminalization. America is, after all, world famous for our love of excess and our inability to control our binge drinking rates. Coupling America's love of illicit, hard drugs with America's love of dangerous automobiles could mean tragedy.

Americans on average can barely control their addiction to easy fast food, binge drinking, and junk food consumption. Decriminalizing substances that, across the board, by all scientific standards, are harmful for you, IMO, is a bad decision.

It always seems like Google is removing more features from Search than they add in. I especially loath most of Google's mobile apps - they have little to no options, settings, and customization.

Why exactly does Google have this design philosophy when adding an options page would be a relatively easy thing to do???

I'm just going to have to disagree with that design philosophy. My favorite products are all those that can be tweaked, because I think it's impossible to design a product that will work well for everyone.

The burden is on the you to come up with great default settings, but after that, why do you need to leave out all the other stuff? Why do you feel the need to hide obvious setting parameters when not everyone is going to love the "defaults"?

Take for example Google Navigation. The Voice volume is way too loud and disrupts other things such as music. And not everybody needs to hear every little detail about that highway exit - the Voice prompts the driver to take action, not necessarily listen to the details. But of course this is a setting you guys cut, because you think we all need to hear the Voice at its loudest volume, all the time.

I know you want one set of software for everyone, but there are a lot of people in the world who like to tinker with stuff. I want to see all the options and see everything the app is capable of. I want more Google search features, more options to get specifically what I want out of Search.

I don't see how adding additional settings will "ruin" everyone else's app experience. The tweaks are only there for those who want to tweak them, and everyone else can ignore them.
