Get him liking calculus and physics. It’s really important to have a good understanding of that before going into Earth Sciences/Geology. It’s a hella hard degree. Also, I’ve been on so many field trips where people were surprised there were no services or flush toilets, lol. So get him used to camping and roughing it too.
