No, not these days, anyways. Recent strains of the last two years have been seriously scary, causing death and hospitalization to even healthy adults.

I just got over Influenza A, which caused me to get pneumonia and sent me to the hospital. I am relatively young, eat a clean diet, and exercise regularly. This put me out of commission for nearly a month. I have never been more sick in my life and had serious concerns for the future.
