My dad had an implant while being treated for cancer. They left the magnet out on his so that MRIs could be done. He wears a headband that keeps it in place over the pickup. They can add the magnet later if he is done with the frequent MRIs.

Definitely bother voting. Even if the "big ticket" race might be overwhelmed with large numbers from other parts of the state, there are many choices down-ballot that are also very important... your Congressmen, state representatives, judges, mayor, sheriff, school board members. The local area races arguably have a much larger bearing on your day-to-day life than who is sitting in the White House.
