In my anecdotal experience, it is. I'm a graduate student now (and have been for some time...). I came from a working class family and went to a hs that only puts about 40% of the graduating class in a 2-4 yr institution. The information they gave us about college was so poor that I tried to apply to graduate programs as a senior in hs because I thought it meant I had graduated high school. I know I wasn't alone in thinking this.
