I actually agree with this. I don't care what Richard Gere has to say about Tibet. If Beiber started talking about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict I would not listen to one single word. I would rather pierce my own member with a rusty nail than listen to the politically inept Donald Trump go on about what is good for America. Yet still, Donald Trump is everywhere. He always gets air time to represent his agenda. I think even greater media coverage is what is needed. Let's force Extra and Access Hollywood to give a minute to tell some extra people about this. It's a great way to keep it fresh and keep the discussion alive. Rather than playing a cat video, CNN will replay some celebrity tweet about the event. I'd just hate for this event to not get the media attention it deserves. As for the event itself; well the content is good enough to stand on its own.

Sadly, these people don't grab the headlines as much as we wish. A couple of politicians would lead to a minute blurb on CNN. Did you see how much attention Rally to Restore Sanity achieved? Was it due to the political clout of its participants? No, it was because it had well liked celebrities. The bigger the name the bigger the sell. That being said, I don't think it would be too difficult to find big names that are behind this cause. My personal nerd favorite is Kevin Pereira. Great speaker, some celebrity and very passionate about the cause.
