How often did you stay in hotels? I've done lots of Caminos de Santiago & French GRs but fear I'm too precious to sleep on the ground & eat ramen noodles & snickers bars.

Wrong. Gerald Ford was president during Mayday 1975 which was when commissions switched from being fixed to negotiable. Before that people didn't really "trade" stocks, they invested in them.

A fixed commission of 25 cents per share (50 cents round trip) left no room for capitalizing on small changes.

The Clinton administration was in place when Glass Steagall was repealed. That allowed banks to enter far more speculative businesses like stock - and far worse - credit derivative and structured mortgage trading. That led to the credit crisis in 2008.

I know I'm tardy to the party but I don't understand why Total Bases is not the most important offensive metric. OPS seems to be all the rage but it fails to reward players for durability and stolen bases. Thoughts?
