1st gen Skins was/is one of the best things on tv

I just remember it being so totally different to anything that was on tv at that point. I mean, what else was there that came anywhere near accurately depicting the lives of older teens in the U.K.?

(Not that I was as cool or went to as many parties as the kids in the show, but ya know)

I never really warmed to the 3rd gen but 2nd was still pretty good IMO. By the time that had finished I think they'd exhausted a lot of the character tropes & devices that made the show great in the first place. 1st gen did set a very high bar tho.

I actually met Joe Dempsie not too long after 1st gen had finished, at a Nottingham Forest match. We'd just beaten our biggest rivals (Derby County) so it was all a bit of a blur but it was really cool

The First Order are essentially an empire fan club so it follows that they might use the same designs. Plus they're clearly state-of-the-art tech wise; Poe comments on this when he and Finn hijack one.

As for the x-wings, I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it? The ARC fighters that the republic army uses in ROTS are also pretty similar to x-wings except with fixed wings.
