While it might seem dumb at first, I have actually had a similar experience in a way, multiple times. I wear contacts and have been in the situation where I have forgotten to order more or prescription has expired and been using my last pair, and then one falls out or gets torn or something. I would have to deal with only having one eye that can see far, but one eye that can see much better up close, for up to a month at a time.
After a few days, my brain would just get used to processing the world this way and I would actually forget about only having one in for long periods of time. Eventually, when I could get new ones and put them in, I would have a quite similar feeling to what you described. It's just like "Wow, everything is so 3D! I feel like I'm in a videogame or dream or something because it all seems so unreal" I can only imagine how awesome it must have been to see that for the first time ever.
