I got rid of it in under 6 months by doing cbt, every time I focused on the feeling/fear/whatever I would make a conscious effort to think about something mundane or something I'd generally feel positively about and after a while my brain started doing it on its own until one day my perception was normal all day. Sometimes I get glimpses of it for 30 seconds at a time some days, but I know how to beat it so it never hangs around for long.

There are underlying anxieties more than likely contributing which need to be dealt with as well, in the short term anxiolitic medications made me feel normal.
