Reading this thread is really a reality check for the rest of us. I'm sorry for your loss, but I thank you for being open about it. Life is fragile, and the difficult lesson you unfortunately learned is another reminder to the rest of us that life is to appreciate the time we have with those we love. We all have regrets, and many of us would have made he exact same decision. Keep your head up man, your brother wouldn't want you to feel this level of regret for your whole life. There was no way for you to know.

What kind of lazy 11 year old isn't even re-writing mine awareness manuals yet. Your parents should be ashamed.

You don't have to tiptoe around it. I know how it is, you don't want to bash your own people. The truth is, and we both know it, the community, overwhelmingly, is shit. Some good people but most are not. They're rude, they make a mess, they let their kids go berserk, the list goes on. I always felt bad badmouthing them because we're all supposed to stick together but they deserve it.

It's also important to clarify that homeless does not always mean living on the street. There are a lot of homeless people who sleep on friends' couches, live in shelters or temporary housing, etc. They are just as homeless as the people on the street.
