As it's been 6 hours, I'll give you a response. I work security for festivals in the UK.
It goes to the police. Generally we bag it and catalog it, and then hand it over. (This next bit depends on the company) We keep the info on what was confiscated where, and then look at the stats afterwards with the police and event organisers. It allows us to see if there is any correlation to a particular campsite or entrance to a festival. If there is, we can work to remedy it.
I did a job in Ireland and they actually had a guy going around taking samples from the portaloo's to see which drugs were most common. He was working with the Garda (Irish Police) going from event to event. Hearing that on the Radio was a weird one.
As for "do you get to keep them?" -No. At least you shouldn't. It risks not only that persons job, but the company's contract with the festival. Our company takes it seriously if anyone is seen trying to pocket confiscated drugs and pushes for prosecution of anyone found in possession. However, in any profession, you always get a shithead who'll give everyone else a bad name and still try it. But it's less and less these days (or people are getting better at not getting caught...).

Well I would think OP would have a specific ID badge with their NHS trust, department, and job title.
But it's not exactly something someone would lie about, right? :-)

Yeah, they're a bit more coloured and modern looking. Most RA's won't replace the old ones for a new one unless they are broken or lost/stolen.
Some clinical staff can eat through them from the usage so end up with the new ones, where as admin staff will mostly need to put it in the card reader once or twice a day. I use mine once a month at most.

Not to rock the boat, but that's not proof on its own as it's just your smart card.
I have one of these and I'm in IT.
