Any advice for getting paid photo work in the outdoor industry? How can one stick out from the huge field of aspiring outdoor photographers?

Thank you for responding. I think I phrased my question poorly. You were on a huge assignment for Nat Geo, the top tier of photojournalism and outdoor photography. Did they approach you about it? Did you pitch an idea to them? Do you have contacts there through other jobs you’ve had? Do you do a lot of cold emails and pitches? Is networking a huge part of it?
