I'm in australia so I don't know how I could help, but it is so refreshing to have someone with a strong scientific background investing time into politics.

What you said about nasa is basically what my high school physics teacher said about 5 years ago when students in the class started saying how pointless nasa was ("why would we want to keep going to the moon, it's just a lump of rock").
