I think it would be hard to dissuade people of this. Barr, after all, wrote a memo before becoming AG about how he thought the investigation was illegal. It seems obvious to me from Trump's comments on Session's lack of loyalty, lack of protecting him, etc that the new AG would be someone outspoken against the special prosecutor.
