I think the people who do are mentally unwell and need something they feel like they are "enlightened" on as opposed to all the "dumb" sheep who just believe everything. It's the same with anti vaxxers and flat earthers. I'm from Germany and I'm very happy that you survived and had a full and fulfilling life. All the best to you
