If the tattoo is brightly colored and has the star of life or a red cross i might look at it. I generally recognize and notice medical alert bracelets more though.

Look at the difference in training levels between a first responder and a paramedic. In my state, first responder Is a weekend course. Paramedic is a full year of school after you obtain an emt cert and that doesn't include the prereqs.
