I know CERN has a lot of computer power. Any plans to open up the compute grid for non-physics related data analysis (say for example in computational biology)? Also, have you guys thought about monetizing it and charging individuals/corporations/universities for compute time?

I personally think you guys should open it up. Not only does it provide another source of revenue, but also allows non-physicist access to some awesome compute power. Imagine having non-physics grants and funds across those sites support and enhance the computer grid. It is a win-win situation. Also for the private sector, the ability to have an alternative to say Amazon AWS for data analysis would be awesome. I just think it is a win-win situation for everyone involved. Great science gets supported at CERN by sharing compute power at a nominal price.

Looks interesting will def. have a look!
