LaVey and Aleister Crowley both used the technique of being offensive and mystical to keep people they disliked far away, and draw the kind of people they liked inward.

Instead of forcing the sort of perspectives that cult leaders do, they basically wanted people to come to them with compatible perspectives already. It's almost like a sort of reverse indoctrination, where you put an idea out there and wait for people to come back with similar ideas.

There is a positive correlation between EDS and various common neurological afflictions, the most common ones being Generalized Anxiety Disorder and migraines. Collagen is just as important in the brain as it is elsewhere in the body, and in my personal experience no one I know with EDS is what I would describe as 'neurotypical.' Granted, that's a sample pool of like five, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some overlap between common symptoms of autism (sound/light sensitivities) and EDS.

EDS test is usually the Beighton Score, at least it was for my wife. They look at medical history for other symptoms and then make you show them your bendy human tricks.

In some cases doctors will be horrified and honestly that's pretty funny to see.

Just a thought, have you seen a pain management specialist? Most of the people I know with EDS do and have had very good results with some non-traditional medications that don't prevent them from feeling "warning" pain. Gabapentin is literally the worst.
