why is your Linux support so cruddy ? it would be awesome to use my extra keys on ubuntu

Why is it theirs been a sudden decrease in the lifetime of harddrives over the last few years ? call me old but I have a perfectly working 200 meg harddrive ( yes meg) from the 80's but some of the newer 500 gig drives i buy barely last 2 years ?

Although it's a little late Thanks for answering this , I never really considered the the set up , power supply , or other components being at fault for a failed drive , I just figured with ignorance that it was a shitty drive or manufacture.
