I live in Canada and I bloody miss a prawn cocktail crisp. See also Greggs, Lorne sausage, tottie scones and Morton's rolls.

Ha! Close enough! I'd walk over hot coals for a fresh Morton's roll w bacon, potato scone and a fried egg. And don't even get me started on a pizza supper :(

Anything called a 'supper' in Scotland means it's with chips. Not fries like you would know them, in order for them to be 'chips' they're cut into the usual chip/fries shapes but soaked in water for a few hours so that the starch comes out. Losing the starch makes them squidgey and amazing when they're deep fried.

Now we've talked about the 'supper' aspect - which is basically anything with chips...we can talk about pizza/haggis/pudding etc

Pizza supper is basically a deep fried pizza, Think about the worst kind of pizza you could buy at costco etc. One where there is a hugely doughy base and a slim topping. So you take that, and plunge it into a deep far fryer, so much that the topping kind of melts and the base kind of absorbs a lot of the oil from the fryer. Just enough that both are at the pinnacle of tasty (I know you won't think it's true, but it really is). That is a standard pizza supper.

Now if you're going a bit posh and are talking about a 'pizza crunch' then you take all that and just dunk the pizza in batter before it goes in the fryer.

Feel free to ask questions in case I've not explained it properly!

I'm old-school so straight in. All that 'pizza crunch' stuff with the batter is ok, but it's not my go-to. I'm a purist - pizza supper, couple of pickled onions, good lashing of vinegar over the chips, and a bar-bru. Majestic end to any evening!
