It's pretty well-studied and well know that in general, religious people are happier, it's not just his single study. I know that goes against the whole reddit notion of religion though, but it annoys me when people try pick apart studies and look for any point they criticize so they can dismiss it just because it goes against their beliefs.

You can just google it. Researchers say it might be due to having a large community and network of support, feeling of belonging, and like zakpj said, because of socialization that goes on, things like that.
