I'm not the guy that offered, but if I knew my blood type and thought that I could get to the OP I would offer as well.

My reasoning is simple, it is what I would want some one to do for me if I was in their shoes. I only need one kidney, I live a pretty healthy life and I don't plan to change that. Furthermore the OP is young, like my self, and if I can offer something to him to let him life a normal life then I think I should.

Thank you. I don't really see it as anything special, I never even really have thought about it until just now. I just know what when I need help, or when my life isn't going so well, I would like some one out there to look and go "hey, I can help that guy out" and do so. So because I would expect that from some one else I try to do it my self when ever I can.
