Alternatively I think this way of thinking is doing more to set back gay rights then most people imagine, because this way homosexuality is just a novelty, some porno gimmick. I hear men say they support homosexuality because they think lesbians are hot and I think, could you have possibly missed the point any more than you have?

I couldn't be more straight if I was lying, but inversely, whenever I mention my unwavering support and acceptance of homosexuality, how "I'm straight but I have only the utmost respect and solidarity for gay people" in any context I become painfully aware how fake I sound, how much I seem to be doing it just to save my own rep as a good guy, etc. Where I live you either support homosexuality or you are a bigot and parallels are drawn between you and americans as a derogatory thing. I sit down and think, maybe I should be less vocal about it, just passively assume it's common knowledge? Then I realize how wrong that sounds too.

So tl;dr, I only wish I could do more, you know?
