Honestly, we are in a bad way...and it seems everyone but the general public in my state seems to realize it.

I didn't gather the same from his response. Obviously I can't speak for him, nor would I ever try, but I viewed this statement much more like the people that advocate for young children or dead victims. They don't have a voice to advocate for themselves so someone steps up and does it for them.

Hi! Thanks for doing an AMA. I think your situation AND your stance on the animal rights is commendable. I realize that we can defend things without it being a personal part of our lives (i.e. having companion animals). I also read the reason that you have taken up this cause (the similarity of how the Jewish people were treated compared to how animals for slaughter are treated - which is just like..WHOA for me...as I never really considered it..and considering it makes me really re-think a few choice....so THANK YOU for that) despite having a companion animal. So my question is WHY don't you have an animal companion?
