yeah. when skin colour became the defining dynamic of hegemony instead of religion, the Irish were (comparably) assimilated into the privileged demographic. while they still experience soft systemic oppression, it's nothing compared to the outright racism that still plagues the existence of native American communities. we're not just talking living in the face of pervasive overt ignorance, but an institutional legacy of denied access to social resources
