We always told my grandmother that they were having their home remodeled, and would just be staying here for a day until it was fixed up and they could go back.

My grandfather wasn't as good at this, it went against his conscience to lie to her even if the truth upset her.

So this is small in the grand scheme of things, but one small positive for someone who loses their memory every day:

She was always so happy to hear that my sister had been married. We would show her all the photos, and she would relive the excitement every time. She didn't seem too upset about forgetting being at the wedding when we showed pictures of her being there.

All good news like that was nice to bring up on visits.
