The whole thing was terrible. They entrapped him by calling his Son's bong company, that used Tommy's name, over and over again until they finally convinced them to ship a bong across state lines, which was a federal crime. Tommy had nothing to do with it, but he took a deal so no one else went to jail. The case was a political show trial. The prosecutor was immediately promoted several times by the Bush government.

I highly recommend checking out the documentary. Very good, if infuriating: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478090/

What? How is someone looking out their front window at a public street in any way related to the warrantless bulk collection of innocent people's phone records by the U.S. government using secret interpretations of the law? It's only called Parallel Construction when it's the government giving a tip to itself, then withholding that evidence from the Defense and the Judge.

The two are morally and legally incomparable.

"Independent" doesn't refer to the number of people working at game dev company, it refers to whether or not they've signed a deal with a major publisher. When you sign with a large publisher, you almost always have to sign over a portion/all of your creative control, release date, budget, etc.

So "indy" really refers to the spirit of independence, making your own decisions.

The defense is entitled to all evidence against them. This is a core, bedrock principal of any just legal system.

I disagree entirely with your characterization. This isn't about a random anonymous tipster. This is evidence that is the original basis of suspicion. Not only that, law enforcement is in many cases perjuring themselves to conceal this evidence. This is just one example of how secret evidence corrupts the process and erodes the public's confidence of those in authority.
