EDIT: after reading the top comment, i realized we went to the same type of school and read the same comic strips in our PACEs.

from like 5th grade to 7th grade I went to a private christian school that had a similar format. The school was very small, it occupied two buildings in a shopping center (one of them used to be a radio shack). we had a playground and a basketball net in the back, as well as tables to eat at.

it hosted grades k-12 but it was a very small school so maybe 1-6 kids per grade level. when I went there weren't really any juniors or seniors.

the curriculum was self paced. you got little 35-40 page booklets that had all the curriculum in there. you read it and you filled out the quiz. at the end, you take your packet to the self-checking desk and get the test key out and check your answers. if you missed questions, you marked them wrong and you corrected them and checked yourself again. at the end of each packet there was a test that was graded by an instructor. the instructors didn't really teach, but they could help you if you had questions. if you had a question you raised a little flag in your little cubby desk and someone came to help you.

there were breaks and such and since it was a small school everyone knew eachother. we had recess and PE but PE wasn't really graded, we just went and played basketball or kickball. it was real lax, not strict. however, if you were out of line or being a real shit, the principal would hit you in the ass a couple of times with a wooden paddle.

i didn't hate it, it was pretty cool and everyone was nice but i eventually wanted to meet more people so I went to public school for 8th grade. there was lots of interaction with other students and everyone was real close but the self-paced curriculum required alot of self discipline, which was the idea.

Do you know why they stopped cutting the bread with a long triangle wedge for the top piece and started slicing it hotdog bun style?
