They are basically in information-gathering mode, and won't open investigations into individual cases unless they involve other crimes like money laundering.

My brother has been on SSDI for 9 years. There have been a few CDRs during this time. He said the last time he contacted SSA they have him scheduled for a CE next year.

Is it the case that most of these consultative exams end up with some kind of denial? Will he be able to retain his benefit, and what does that journey look like?

I'm trying to help him out because his condition makes it difficult for him to deal with this. Any thoughts appreciated.

We will work on getting more updated documentation from his current doctor.

That would be a great outcome if they cancelled the CE. . He will turn 55 right before the exam. Just trying to get him over this hump.

Not like you can request a new one.

Are you certain about that? It's literally one of the reasons you can get a new number.
