2001 gmc 6.0 gasser with 500,000 kms here, you know what’s up

honestly the 6.0 did better when it was new, maybe 20 unloaded, but since 350000-400000 kms it gets 9.5 US MPG no matter how much weights on, the only thing that can get me to break 400km on the 100lt tank is consistent highway speed, but i rarely have more than 400km in any direction to drive and once you hit a city goodnight any mpg you had gained on the way. seriously, 1/4 tank to get to the city 200 kms away, 1/4 tank to get from the edge of the city to my house. i really shouldn’t daily it, but with few other bills and an oilfield job i’ll keep running it, debating rebuilding the motor, i know it’ll cost more than a junkyard 6.0 but there really is something to it being the original engine and trans to me

I heard an interesting anecdote about skeleton/luge, and that was that you rarely crash end first, and if you are that's a big deal either way. however the side of the track in a rub situation, which is far more common, runs down your arm and leg in a crash rather than up. I have no experience with either, however
