Here's a question: do you think the removal of natural floating debris, like trees and logs, from the water could potentially have a negative effect on the ecosystem? I understand, completely, the short and long term benefits of your work, but I'm wondering if you think an absence of things like trees, logs, and branches could have any sort of long-term effect?

Thanks for the obviously well-informed answer! I was initially thinking of natural barriers to erosion, and hadn't even considered the bloom/dead zone disruption.

At first, we refer to it as 'Johnny Cashing' it, or Ring of Fire. After a while, though, my cast iron gullet, solid stomach, and my poor poor poopshoot built up their own tolerances. Fun fact: I have never had heart burn.
