i might have picked this up wrong, but alex salmond is predicting 18 months for EU admittance. in that time, what happens to scotland as an economic entity? will taxes be levied on all imports? what about land transport from england, will there be a border set up while scotland is a non schengen treaty area.

when scotland is admitted to the EU (they will be, and quickly, if they vote yes) will scotland be willing to toe the EU line, london has managed to get concessions for the UK regarding being part of the eurozone and some immigration stuff.

what about defence? with regards to scottish members of the UK defence forces, will they be forced to resign their commissions or leave their respective force? what about british naval vessels in scottish waters, will those ports be leased (or some other agreement) to the uk like ireland did?

sorry for the barrage of questions, personally i think its short sighted of scotland to vote yes, and thats coming from an irishman, so its a minority sentiment here
