I lived in GTMO for seven years in the 70's and 80's if you want to ask anything. Obviously well before Camp X-Ray was built.

It was a lot of fun for a kid. I rode my bike everywhere, lived pretty much on the beach. The best day ever was when McDonalds first opened, before that there wasn't really any restaurants. It didn't seem "different" to me because that was what I knew, now I tell someone I lived in GTMO and their eyes get big.
