I've heard that increasing technological efficiency in production is the root cause for profit generation on the US. Some sociologists, though, say it's from surplus labor, or when employees are not paid fully for their work, like through unpaid overtime or wage theft. Do you have any thoughts on profit or the role of surplus labor in the US economy?
