my dad who's just a few years younger than your grandpa, born in the ukraine and came over here in the mid 70s seems to have completely different view of communist russia than your grandpa. To my dad, russia never actually had communism, it just had corruption and actually uses those two words synonymously.

This is actually one of the projects that my organization will be taking on - instituting and promoting best practices for customer privacy in the telecommunications industry.

That's awesome, I'll be sure to follow The Calyx Institute.

One of the responses I always here from the EFF at conferences is "we don't know what would happen, there's never been a case like it," so it's great to be able to see what happens regarding a case that actually went through.

Edit: just saw that one of the services you offer is a chat server using SILC. If you ever want help with any open sourced projects for secure communications let me know. It's an interesting field for me that i work in the network security field and i've made a website for similar purposes in my spare time.

Thanks for doing this and the AMA as well it's very interesting.

As someone who has worked for ISPs in the past and been in charge of what we kept for logs I'm curious what your professional recommendations would be now (while trying to preserve the rights of your clients). I'd imagine you can't tell us everything they were looking for but how about a quick overview of what you think ISPs should keep and for how long?
