Will you be avoiding areas that could be considered hostile to western travelers? I recently attended a wedding and the mother of murdered American bicyclist Lauren Geoghegan was there. ISIS claimed responsibility for the murders and attack. This happened in Tajikistan this past summer. Good luck to you on your journey.

I read some Laura's perspective on the reason she wanted to travel the world. Much of it was because of her soulmate who encouraged her in these travels. She did not go with fear in her heart or mind. So much of what she wrote as they made their journey was like yours. Kindness, friendliness, physical distress, incredible sights. Yet it wasn't lack of respect that caused their deaths, but hatred, distrust, religious extremism. You can still be wary yet make your way among those who are welcoming. Watch out for the viper hiding in the fruit. Have a wonderful adventure.
