Exactly brother. The greatest disappointment and embarrassment came when my home state (North Carolina) actually made gay marriage illegal, such an unnecessary step for a state that is usually progressive by the bible belt standards. It was the only time I actually felt shame for my home state.

Keep in mind experience sometimes isn't all that important when the job can be taught and a work ethic is more important. Employers value the work ethic that they know someone from the military has, it's not about their service, it's about the result of their service.

I'm currently with the 26 MEU, did you find out you'd be going into Iraq on ship or did you know you'd be going before that? What was the reaction of Marines and Sailors when they found out they'd be invading Iraq?
