I'm well aware of that. Kesey called it super amphetamine because of the substitutions to tryptamine being the same as they are with amphetamine/phenethylamine. It also sticks out among psychedelics by being a monoamine releaser, not just a seretonin agonist, giving it that in common with amphetamine as well.

Not to mention that some amphetamines are psychedelic, so the categories aren't mutually exclusive.

No problem, it's still legal a lot of places (not US or UK though). They called it super amphetamine in the book, probably because it's the alpha-methyl substitute of tryptamine, whereas amphetamine is the (a)lpha-(m)ethyl substitute of (phe)ne(t)hyl(amine). Parentheses to show the interesting etymology of amphetamine.
