How, if at all, has your work on SPAUN affected your views on free will vs. determinism?

Thanks for the AMA! In your opinion, why, in prominent media outlets, do the statements of politicians/talking-heads/CEOs/etc seem to go unchecked? In many instances, during speeches and interviews, very little seems to be fact checked, instead just being accepted as truth. Do you believe that this is a problem with the journalists (e.g. unfamiliarity with the topic, not pushing follow up questions), or is it instead a problem with the news outlet (e.g. micromanaging, commitment to a message)?
