Because oil moves the country, so something has to move this oil. It's not just gas for cars. Most plastic products you know in life start as oil. It is a necessity at this point. Their argument that, well, let's just have clean energy! Is not very helpful to the discussion. If you know a better or cheaper way to move the oil, I promise you the builders of this pipeline would be happy to hear it.
