Thanks for your response Tamer. I feel deeply uncomfortable with the idea that women's rights are grouped under "social issues" - generally seen as a softer alternative to "political issues". Women make up over half of Egypt's voting population, and middle-aged and older women were regarded as paramount in ousting the Morsi government. As a group, Egyptian women are far from homogenous. As such a large segment of the voting population, you would hope that women's issues form a substantial part of the government's agenda...but this seems to be largely ignored by the western media, not to mention the local Egyptian media. Why do you think this is?

What are your thoughts on the election results and its impact Egyptian women? Will things take a turn for the better? I'm curious as to what you think about the misogyny associated with Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood and how it is contrasted with the El-Sisi agenda. Many prominent women activists blamed the Morsi regime for its inaction regarding sexual assault against women. Do you think this is a valid point, or does this problem deeper roots than the government at hand, and more to do with underlying cultural and societal issues?
